Hello!! Welcome again to the new year! Ignore that it's February!!
Not much to review this time since I decided to skip resolutions at the beginning of 2022:
"There's too much uncertainty about whether/when my throat will recover and the other health things preventing me from working on projects or my skills much—I've been set back so much that I don't want to think too hard about distant goals. This year I really just need to take care of myself by staying disciplined and extremely careful about my lifestyle, appreciate the small things in life, andkeep my pessimism in checkbelieve that everything will get better soon!"
I think 2022 for me could be called a "good year" in that nothing majorly bad happened, progress was made, challenges conquered, I grew as a person, created and nurtured a lot of great things, made some new friends, my loved ones are well, and I'm grateful for that. It was also a rather dark year that challenged my patience and was spent thinking a lot about my own health and mortality... This year had so many ailments one after another. Plus grasping at copium as my best friend moved to another country haha.
For the most part I succeeded in my goals of focusing on my health, discipline, making some recovery (albeit not enough), taking many hard looks at what's happening, the potential reasons behind them, how to improve things, what next steps could be made.
Sadly it was also a year of constantly compromising: all of my hobbies, things I enjoy, food, motivation, comfort, freedom, companionship, my time, energy, mental strength, one branch of health in exchange for another. Probably brings home the prize of The Most Frustrating Year I've lived thus far. 😂
Going into 2023, it seems it'll rather be a year of Exploring Solutions—my situation is no longer as uncertain and my goals are much more defined. I have a pretty good idea of what I need to do, which is promising! But unfortunately all serious things which probably will make for a dreary and boring post, sorry lmao.
We shall see if I make it to a hundred or give up early, here we go... ✌️
Bold for especially big ones for me this year.
.
.
.
1. Survive!!! (ok everyone can go home; the rest is optional now)
2. Experience a lot of happiness.
3. Be thankful for getting to live the life I have.
4. Thoroughly appreciate every moment of sparked joy, whether small or grand!
5. Love myself lots!
6. Be proud of myself, no matter what.
7. Don't catch COVID.
8. Always prioritize my well-being and become healthier.
9. Be able to look at the glass and see it as half-full. ;v;
10. My mental health has improved a ton since I made some changes over the past month—but if it has a lapse again... I will finally muster the courage to explore therapy.
11. Do things outside of my comfort zone and grow.
12. Make progress in overcoming my fears.
13. Stay [mostly] disciplined with my acid reflux diet and lifestyle.
14. Allowing occasional cheats for happiness' sake but in moderation! Smartly!
15. Have enough self control to stop eating when full........
16. Improve my relationship with eating so as to not be emotionally dependent on it 💀
17. Lower my cholesterol.
18. Become heart healthy, both with cardio and nutrition.
19. THIS TIME FOR REAL... I will exercise every day, with only some special exceptions. Even if briefly.
20. Walk a lot.
21. Go outside often.
22. Jog regularly and improve stamina!
23. Keep up practicing dancing regularly!
24. Only if I feel up for it...post a dance video?
25. Keep stretching in my routine. I've been making some progress lately on loosening my stiff lower back 🙌
26. Take more movement breaks throughout the day, especially when working.
27. Take frequent eye breaks!
28. Massage and warm compress eyes more often. Finally improve my perpetual eye strain?
29. Try a new treatment for my dry eyes.
30. Keep my work-life balance under control!!
31. Stop feeling imposter syndrome and recognize that I can do many things better than I think.
32. Learn to put off work to the next day if it's not urgent and don't stress about it. I tend to stubbornly grind through things once in the "groove" because I know that in the morning/the next day I'll struggle with motivation—need to fix these habits.
33. No burnout! 🙅🏻♀️
34. Stop overwhelming myself as much, especially when it comes to feeling the burden of unfinished tasks or obligations or feeling that I have to be everywhere doing as much as I can TT...
35. Less overthinking; let's take things more chill.
36. Learn to let things go—especially if out of my control.
37. Draw boundaries better.
38. Finish these resolutions before January is over!
:D One irreversible failure already but that's ok it's chill~
39. Upload at least one cover to youtube.
40. Be diligent with doing vocal function/recovery exercises whenever driving by myself.
41. If after doing this and keeping my reflux in check for a couple months(?) AND STILL my vocal condition doesn't improve, I'm going to seek a doctor that can help with voice rehab.
(For reference: Currently my throat often feels strained even when just speaking. It gets worn out and dry quickly. Something about the muscles even feel different—I can't support my singing or control my head voice like before. Voice breaks easily. Up until now I've seen ENT's, throat specialist, and stomach specialist but they've only really been checking that nothing is seriously wrong.)

42. And then potentially a vocal coach to help me construct and maintain a healthy singing technique........ I'm scared of singing in front of anyone though. 😭
43. Since I'm focused on recovery, it may be too much to ask to improve at singing but I hope I can make some progress in things like making my phrasing cleaner!
44. Improve my trash Japanese pronunciation lol I'm serious this time.
45. Maybe I will finally learn how to read Japanese...
46. Continue practicing speaking Cantonese with my parents and improve.
47. Improve my Korean pronunciation.
48. Become more comfortable with speaking in general.
49. Make some videos where I speak on camera!
50. Will this finally be the year I make my breakdown/explainer video about my experience directing a music video...?
51. Continue to have fun with voice acting.
52. Check the #youtaiteworks playlist at least weekly if possible! As its moderator I watch a bit of every video, leave a like, and ensure all entries in the playlist belong there (currently added automatically via bot made by Velvet) while enjoying the works of the community and discovering new people. <3 I fell quite behind which took a while to catch up so I'd like to stay more on top of it. Been finding more ways to do this while multitasking!
53. It's warmed my heart how things have been going for the youtaite community: recovering our confidence and morale and self-love. Let's continue to put our energy towards that and see 2023 blossom even more than 2022 did!
53. Leave lots of youtube comments on covers and music.
54. ...Finish animating for unfinished duet...
55. Learn more about presets and scripts for After Effects.
55. If the missing lines get turned in, finish mixing for a certain collab.
56. Learn more about audio plugins.
57. Continue to grow and be recognized at my video production job.
58. Aim to sleep around midnight or 1 AM.
59. Wake up earlier and be more active in the mornings.
60. Try to always get enough sleep.
61. No more revenge bedtime procrastination...
62. When I catch myself mindlessly refreshing Twitter, I need to stop myself. Got better at this but regressed a ton last year.
63. Manage my time better. Stop dreading things and just do them.
64. Quit always showing up to things late... Gotta accept that getting ready takes a while and clearly reserve that time.
65. Blog more regularly! So many things I've been wanting to post and still haven't.
66. Diligently update my health diary every single day! When I push it off by even 1 day, I often forget some details. ;;
67. Remember all of my medications every day without fail.
68. Be more cognizant of my tensed shoulders.
69. nice--
Okay on a serious note I am turning a very big age this year and I don't want to feel pressured to change anything about myself—or feel ashamed—on account of my age.
70. Have fun exploring aesthetics that I like, even if they may not "match" my age!!
71. Be less self-conscious! For some reason it got worse in 2022...?
72. Stop feeling guilty for taking up space or being loud or cringy. People can just deal with it.
73. Do more spontaneous things!
74. Make good memories with friends.
75. But also become more comfortable going out and having a pleasant time by myself.
76. Take more photos with my film camera.
77. Improve at photography.
78. I say this every year, but I hope this time forreal I'll keep up regularly doing ab exercises! But in ways that don't aggravate reflux ;n;
79. Finally build some muscle.
80. Get closer to my physique goals?
81. But regardless of those, I hope I'll be happier just feeling healthier and stronger in general!
82. Play more with makeup this year. Why? 'Cause I bought some new items a few months ago as retail therapy but don't have the time management to ever actually use them.
83. Always wash my face before doing skincare even if I'm tired.
84. No more "I forgot to moisturize because I didn't want to step away from work."
85. Cook sometimes.
86. Regularly make veggie smoothies—this is something I just started recently!
87. Improve my skills at knife handling and food prep.
88. Stop revenge eating. (i.e. "I behaved well yesterday, therefore today I deserve indulgence!")
89. Read more, even if it's just manga.
90. Never measure my worth via competence or productivity.
91. Be forgiving towards failure or not reaching a certain standard.
92. Make doctor's appointments as soon as issues come up without hesitation or delay.
93. Spoil my friends more.
94. Not really expecting to record and finish the cover this year, but I'd love if I can continue the translyrics I've been slowly working on.
95. Fix my posture! It has absolutely deteriorated haha...
96. Do more volunteer community service.
97. Spend more time around our parakeets and hopefully someday they'll warm up...
98. Always leave enough time to relax, play games, purely decompress.
99. I have.......decided to start learning how to play the bass guitar. Hoping to casually enjoy it, not feel pressured to become decent, and let it be a stress-relieving little hobby! 🤞
100. as per tradition:

Final piece of the annual tradition is 1 to 2 photos from the past year.
It was a photography-heavy year so I'll go with these two! I got myself a film camera (thank you fome for taking this pic!) and shot a wedding for the first time.
-
Wowie... This took a handful of sessions to finish due to time, but at no point did I struggle to come up with goals which I'm shocked at!! Usually by the 70s I start referencing previous posts, making random shit up, or sneaking in freebies.
Truly proves that I have a lot I know I've got to work on this year. That's a great thing—being in tune and honest with myself. Now to find the strength to make good on everything................
If anyone is out there reading this: firstly thank you for being here, and please feel free to let me know what your resolutions are if you're comfy with that!! Curious if we have any in common and what sorts of priorities this year holds for you all. 👐
